start with art.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to start with your space, you’re not alone.
Decision fatigue is real! Especially when you’re surrounded by endless inspiration, noise, trends and options.
This is where I often suggest starting somewhere unexpected (and much gentler)
This is my guide when you're feeling unsure or confused.
Start with art. Art as a Starting Point
Art has a way of cutting through the noise.
It’s intuitive, emotional, and doesn’t need to be justified.
When you connect with a piece of art, you’re responding to colour, movement, texture or feeling.
Art can give you:
direction when you feel stuck
permission to trust your instincts
a sense of calm or creativity
a natural colour palette to work from
Instead of asking “What should I buy?”, art invites you to ask:
“How does this make me feel?”
How colour sparks calm + creativity
Colours pulled from art are often more layered and interesting than anything pre-packaged.
As you can see above in the moodboards I've created:
Blues can slow the nervous system and bring clarity.
Warm neutrals and gentle pinks can feel nurturing and creative.
Once you have a few colours in mind decisions become easier.
Cushions, ceramics, furniture, fabrics can start to fall into place.
Keep it simple
If your space feels confusing, it’s usually a sign to simplify, not add more.
One piece of art.
A small selection of colours.
A few intentional layers.
You don’t need to solve the whole room at once.
Let one piece guide you forward.
